Zacapa XO Aged Rum

Zacapa XO Aged RumI’ve read a LOT of good things about this rum, so many people are enthused by it but it is one of the most expensive rums around.

I’ve been looking for an excuse to try this one out and I’ve found it, I think. The site I get all my rums from (TheDrinkShop) has put this little beauty on special offer! It’s down from £81.15 to £72.95!

Every month, I allow myself one complete extravagance, and I think this will be it. I often buy art prints with my monthly allowance but I can’t help thinking that this would be art itself.

The bottle and box alone are fantastic!

Anyone tasted this? Do you think it’s worth the price? Let me know!

Zacapa XO Aged Rum for £72.95!

I have tried this rum. Wow! Luckily for me it was my birthday and my brother in-law was just looking for a special occasion to crack it for the first time.
I was offered it with ice first off the bat, but I find I must always try new rum neat, uncorrupted.
It has the subtle scratch that you would assume from such an expensive bottle followed entirely by vanilla, it’s not overpowering though, it’s like it was always meant to be there. Its like having a swimming pool without water, sure you can get in but its just not right.

Unfortunately I had drunk a little to much prior to be able to delve into its complexities but I would definitely recommend this as a treat to yourself.

Yes its worth it! get it!

can I see pirates drinking it?……
    Pirates of the Caribbean, yes.

Found your blog through #FF on Twitter and glad I did.

I LOVE dark rums! I’ve had the Zacapa 23 but have never splurged to try the XO. Did you ever get this and review it? I’ll poke around and see…

Specticackle: Lucky you! I wish I could say I’ve treated myself to a bottle but not yet. I would need to be stone cold sober to indulge myself in this rum. I think it will be my next premium rum purchase though, and I will review it as soon as I’m able.

Tim D: Glad you like the site, it would seem ‘Stogies’ and Dark Rum go hand in hand. Unfortunately no, as I said above, I haven’t treated myself to this bottle yet. Only a matter of time though. I will most definitely keep my eye on your site in the future, I’m partial to a cigar now and then.
